Our First Week

What a great first week.  The attendance at our first week of business here at the gallery was wonderful.  I received so many positive comments regarding the look of the gallery and all the wonderful talent on display. New artists are coming in daily to talk about added their work  to our display room.

One artist is Joan Spears.  Joan is a potter from the North Bay Potters Guild.  Joan’s work has been very well received by all our visitors.  Her “French Butter Dish” is a huge success.   Joan’s set of 4 tea mugs with red leaves is just what is needed for tea on the front porch of the cottage with friends.    Joan has a very cute berry bowl that would sit beautifully on the table full of fresh summer strawberries.  Drop by and see her work soon.

A Wee Look Inside

Just a wee look inside.  New things are arriving everyday.  Follow the blog to read about all the news of the gallery and it’s artists.  I hope to feature each one every week.

Opening Day tomorrow May 18th, 2018

We have been working hard to get the gallery ready for the opening day tomorrow, May 18th.  It’s been so exciting to see all the different artwork come in the front door.

Local artist Mary Ann Miners, from Sundridge came to visit the gallery with her work yesterday.   Mary Ann is self taught uses a variety of techniques and Acrylics to create her work.  She works mostly on canvas, paper, Yupo and a wide variety of Acrylic mediums, collage techniques with tissue paper and other object to create texture.    She just loves bright colours.  Her painting “Fall” gives a true burst of the fall colours of the Almaguin Highlands.

Things are changing everyday

The Sunflower Artisan Gallery will be open soon. Everyday artists are dropping by to add their work to the gallery display.  Today Jill Boschulte and Andrew Gibson stopped in to give us some of their work.  Jill Boschulte is a local Sundridge artist who has a studio/gallery on Main St..  Jill’s current work theme is called “A Change in the Weather”.  She works in mixed media which refers to the use of several different mediums in one art work.  i.e. oil pastel, graphite, chalk pastel and or acrylic paint, monotype and collage.  Andrew is a photographer.  His photography is breath taking in it’s scope of work which is primarily in nature photos.  He has one photo called ” Ice Bats”.  A must see.
